Castle Rock
Castle Rock is situated in Plum Creek Valley and is the county seat for Douglas County. It was originally named after the large 'Castle' shaped rock, which is visible for miles to travelers making their way up I-25 either North or South. The town was incorporated over 100 years ago in 1881 but in the last decade has grown substantially with the county. Castle Rock is at an elevation of 6,202 feet above sea level and 900 feet above Denver. It is approximately 26 miles south of downtown Denver. The climate is slightly cooler in the summertime and about the same as Denver in the winter.
The downtown area is expanding with retail shops and service businesses as the community rapidly grows. An abundance of single family homes, patio homes, and town homes are being built at a fast pace.
The community is close to some of the state's best fishing, boating, hunting, camping, golfing, and horseback riding. To the North is the community of Castle Pines which is home to the annual PGA International tournament. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus, and is not only challenging but breathtakingly beautiful! It is surrounded by custom built homes and stylized cluster homes from $550,000 and up! If you're looking for a community between Denver and Colorado Springs, Castle Rock is ideally positioned 20 minutes from south metro Denver and 35 minutes to Colorado Springs.
